Useful Items
Since the beginning, my weaving practice has primary focused on creating items that I can use or wear. Recently, I’ve been experimenting with coasters, placemats, and clothing.
The rep weave coasters were woven using 10/2 mercerized cotton using a Handwoven magazine pattern, Little Rep Gems, by Susan Horton.
The placemat (shown still on the loom) is made with 5/2 mercerized cotton using a twill design that I came up with using my weaving software.
The skirt was woven with 6/2 cotton in plain weave with accidental floats created by one of the shafts not lifting properly. What a happy accident, don’t you think?
